2. Main objectives:
The main objectives of NTTC are:
§ To promote the training of teachers of health professionals in educational science and technology.
§ To promote the development and application of educational processes such as educational planning, curriculum development, teaching techniques, instructional materials, evaluation and continuing education.
§ To keep the teachers up date in their own specialities.
3. Special equipments available:
Direct projector, LCD projector, Video projector, Video handy camera, Video dubbing and editing console.
4. On-going training activities:

** sponsored and organized by the Dept. of Nursing, JIPMER
5. Major research activities:
v Objectives Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE) can be effectively used as a method of remedial teaching and learning clinical skills.
v Use of motivational techniques to make all undergraduate students to learn to communicate with patients in Tamil.
v Impact of Integrated Orientation to quality care for Interns.
v Impact of orientation course to postgraduates on research methodology, communication skills and medical ethics.
Assessment of utility of tele-education(on going project since 2000). Using a standard computer with web camera and ISDN link, the NTTC, JIPMER is conducting distance education sessions with the Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The initial feed back assessment indicates that this approach is very useful to bring expert teachers in contact with students far away. Based on our leadership in this area, ISRO is currently setting up a high-tech satellite based tele-link between JIPMER and seven other educational centres
