3. Highlights of patient care provided:
§ A state of art Critical Care Unit, with advanced microprocessor controlled ventilators, invasive and non-invasive haemodynamic monitoring systems, respiratory gas monitoring systems, blood gas analyser, central monitoring and computerised patient data entry system is available. Provide round the clock CCU services with sophisticated ventilatory therapy for all patients referred from Pondicherry and adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu. It is the only unit in the government sector south of Chennai providing this service totally free of cost for poor patients.

v Small dose Fentanyl – Optimal time of adminstration to attenuate the Cardiovascular response to Laryngoscopy and Endotracheal intubation.
v Addition of ketamine or neostigmine to bupivacaine induced spinal anaesthesia – Effect of quality and duration of analgesia.
v Predicting difficult intubation with indirect laryngoscopy.
v Intraoperative blood salvage and autotransfusion, study of its effect on haemotological parameters and coagulation profile.
v Effect of preoperative incentive spirometry on postoperative lung function in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
v Comparison of oral ketamine and midazolam as premedicant in pediatric patients – A randomized prospective double blind study.
v Determination of the minimum alveolar concentration of sevoflurane with and without nitrous oxide for tracheal intubation in paediatric patients.
v Anaesthetic management of benign lesions of larynx – Retrospective & prospective study.
v Conscious sedation with propofol for surgeries under spinal anaesthesia: Anaesthesiologist controlled verus patient controlled.
v Comparison of intubating laryngeal masks airway with direct laryngoscopy for tracheal intubation – a randomized prospective study.
v Comparison of combitube and laryngeal mask airway for airway – maintenance during anaesthesia.
v Comparison of the intrathecal fentanyl bupivacaine Vs. bupivacaine for spinal anaesthesia in caesarian section.
