Pacemaker Implantation: This Department has emerged as the largest centre for permanent pacemaker implantations in the whole of South India. 720 permanent pacemaker implantations have been done and the only one to have the facilities to implant the most sophisticated dual chamber multisensor incorporated rate - Responsive Pacemakers. The Department has implanted 14 automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillaltor which is the largest number in India at the present time; There is a Collaborative Programme with STIMUBANQUE Nancy France in which the most sophisticated pacemakers are implanted absolutely free of cost to the deserving poor of this region. This is the only collaborative programme in the whole of India and is now in the 18th year. |
