Annual Meet 2003

Dear Friend,
Greetings from JIPMER. As usual, we are organizing the
Annual Meet of the JAA in the first weekend in August ie
August 2nd and 3rd, 2003 at our Alma Mater. We request
your cooperation to make it a successful one by partici-
pating in large numbers and bringing your families along.
We promise to make the meet interesting not only for
you, but also for all members of your family. We have
planned a new format for the meet this year, which in-
cludes more interaction and games.
As always, we welcome those who wish to participate
in the Scientific Session to give your names and topics
you would like to speak on. This year, as in the last meet,
this session will be arranged separate from the main
alumni meet. This will ensure that the speakers get a
good, interested audience, while avoiding boring the
non- scientific types among the members and their fami -
lies! Those interested are requested to send in the details
of their talks for consideration in the Scientific commit -
tee. Presentations will take place subject to the accep -
tance by the committee. Priority will be given based on
first- come first- served basis after the topic is approved.
The cultural program will take place as usual along
with the main meet. As part of this program, it has been
decided this year to include a reminiscences session
where members are welcome to bring and show old pho -
tos from their student days, or simply talk about old
times. All of you who have photos or memories to share
please bring them along on floppy/ CD for computer pro -
jection; or as slides. You can also email the presentations
to me in advance. All those desirous of participating are
requested to give their names and items. The cultural pro -
gram and games will be followed by dinner. Guests and
non- members will be charged Rs. 50/- per head for the
dinner. Children below 12 years will not be charged.
Schedule for the meet:
2- 8- 03 (Saturday) in Theatre Pasteur
Scientific program: 9am to 1pm.
3- 8- 03 (Sunday) in Community Hall
General body meeting: 5pm.
Get acquainted session: 6.30pm to 7pm.
Reminiscences/ cultural/ games: 7pm to 8.30pm.
Dinner: 8.30pm.
I would renew the appeal to all of you to try and im -
prove the membership of your association by persuading
your friends who are not yet members to become one.
Membership fees are:
Single Couple
Indian residents: Rs 500 Rs 750
Foreign residents: US$ 100 US$ 150
Please fill in and return the tear off portion of the form (or
email the details) to me to help me in planning for the
meet. Kindly indicate early if you need accommodation,
and the class of accommodation you want. Hotels tend to
be booked at this time and booking will be done on first
come first served basis.
Once again, I welcome all of you to Pondicherry and to
JIPMER. Let us join together to make this a successful
meet.
