Radiotherapy & Chemotherapy of cancer
3. Special equipments available:
Cobalt Units, Brachytherapy HDR, Computerised treatment planning systems, X-ray image intensifier with TV system for localization, Mould room equipment, Ultrasound equipment, Rectillnear isotope scanner.
4. Major research activities:
v Combined external RT + 3 tractions of HDR brachytherapy in the treatment of locally advanced inoperable cancer oesophagus; A prospective non-randomized study.
v Concomitant boost radiotherapy in the treatment of locally advanced head and neck cancer.
v Breast conservation therapy – Lumpectomy and interstitial implantation
v brachytherapy in early breast cancer.
Regional Cancer Centre : The Department is recognized as Regional Cancer Centre by Government of India since 2001.
